Away from broadcasting he has a wide range of philanthropic involvements, centred on medical ethics as well as promoting science and evidence-led health-care. He has played a leading role in social action campaigns, most notably crime prevention. His idea of “Crime Science” promoting a practical, multidisciplinary and outcome-focused approach to crime reduction is being developed at a number of universities, in the UK and abroad. Charlie Taylor, Chief Inspector of Prisons: as we all know is never afraid to speak his mind on the state of prisons!
